Dees was born in Florida, raised in Greensboro and graduated from UNC. In the mid 70’s while serving as the morning host at WHBQ Memphis, Dees recorded the # 1 novelty song “Disco Duck” which sold over 6 million copies. Rick eventually moved his show to L.A. and served as morning host at KIIS-FM for over two decades.
Dees has won countless radio awards, is a member of the Radio Hall of Fame, appeared in both TV and movies and even has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Rick’s various countdown shows air across the U.S. and in 70 countries worldwide. You can hear the Rick Dees Weekly Top 30 Countdown from 2 - 5 p.m. every Sunday afternoon here on Star 100.9!
